The pairing is sometimes called toi et moi, the French phrase for “you and me,” and it carries a specific symbolism: two distinct cuts, equal in standing, held in place by the same setting. The chain itself is intentionally fine (1.5 mm cable links) so the eye is drawn to the pendant rather than to the chain pattern. Within our diamond necklaces collection, the Duet is the two-stone position: smaller and more graphic than a halo or station necklace, but more present than a single-solitaire pendant.

Two Cuts, Two Baskets, One Continuous Outline

The defining choice in this design is letting the two diamond shapes stay visually distinct rather than masking them with a unified halo or frame. The round brilliant sits to one side in a three-prong basket, with the prongs angled to give a clear view of the crown. The emerald cut sits beside it in a four-prong basket, with each prong placed at a corner so the rectangular outline reads cleanly. The two baskets are joined directly along their adjacent sides, so the pendant has one continuous metal outline at the back even though the two stones are independent at the front.

The pendant measures 5.7 mm tall by 6.5 mm wide as the standard reference, which sits roughly at the hollow of the throat on an 18-inch chain. The emerald cut is slightly larger than the round by design, around 0.20 ct against 0.12 ct, which keeps the two stones visually balanced rather than identical. The chain attaches through a small jump ring at the top of the joined baskets, so the pendant slides freely and self-centers when worn.

Solid 18K Yellow Gold and IGI Certified Lab Diamonds

The pendant baskets, jump ring, chain, and clasp are all milled from solid 18K yellow gold (no plating, no fill). The cable chain is built from individually drawn and soldered links, which gives the chain its even drape and resistance to kinking. The two stones are lab grown diamonds, IGI graded in the F to G color, VS clarity range as standard, with higher grades available on request. The round and the emerald cut are matched to each other at the bench for color tier and clarity tier, so the two cuts read as deliberately paired rather than randomly assembled.
