The point of a front back design is that the drop is not hanging from the stud. It comes around from behind the lobe, so the pear looks like it is floating below the round with no link between them. Within our earrings range, this is the pair that carries the most carat weight while still reading as two clean shapes rather than one long drop.

How Does the Pear Sit Below the Round?

Each earring is two parts. The round halo is a normal stud: its post goes through the lobe from the front. The pear halo rides on a jacket arm that curves up behind the lobe and hooks onto that same post, which brings the pear back around to the front and holds it just under the stud. Nothing joins the two halos on the visible side, which is what gives the pair its floating look.

The whole run measures 24 mm from the top of the round to the point of the pear, and 9.2 mm at its widest. That is enough length to clear the lobe and sit against the jaw line rather than on it. Both halo heads carry a scalloped open gallery underneath, so the earring is not a solid block of metal against the ear at that size. The pair can also be worn as the round halo studs alone, with the jackets left off.

What Metal and Diamonds Are Used?

The mounts are solid 14K gold, shown here in white, yellow, and rose. The 76 stones are lab grown diamonds totalling 3 5/8 carats: four prong set centers, one round and one pear per ear, and the rest set as pave in the four halos. The halo stones are melee, so the pair is covered by a test certificate on the gold and the diamonds rather than by a report on every stone.
