This diamond y necklace is a fine chain in solid 14K white gold that divides at a trefoil of three pear shaped lab grown diamonds, points meeting at the center. From the cluster a single chain drops to a fourth pear at the tip. Four stones, 3 1/3 carats, 18 inches plus a 2 inch extension.

Most Y necklaces are a chain with a pendant. Here the junction itself is the main piece, and the drop is a second, smaller statement below it. Among our diamond necklaces, it is the piece built around four graded pears.

How Is the Pear Cluster Arranged?

The three pears in the cluster sit with their points toward the center and their rounded ends outward, like a three leaf clover. Pointing them inward hides the most fragile part of each stone inside the group, where the neighboring stones and a shared center guard it, and it leaves the broadest, brightest part of each pear facing out. The two sides of the chain attach to the upper pears, so the cluster sits level at the base of the throat.

The drop chain leaves the cluster from its lowest point and ends in a pear set point up, the reverse of the cluster above it, so the tip finishes in its rounded end and reads as a teardrop. The chain is fine enough that the drop seems to float, and the extension lets the cluster sit higher on a crew neck or lower on an open collar.

What Metal and Diamonds Are Used?

The chain, the settings, the clasp, and the extension are solid 14K white gold with a rhodium finish. The four stones are pear shaped lab grown diamonds, 3 1/3 carats together. The pear at the tip carries its own IGI report, and at the proportions shown the three cluster pears are also above 0.30 ct, the size from which a lab grown diamond is graded individually, so they are supplied with reports as well.
