The Piece

What Is a Bypass Hidden Halo Engagement Ring?

This is a custom hidden halo engagement ring in solid 14K white gold. The 2 mm band splits into a bypass profile that sweeps past the center stone. A concealed diamond halo sits under the crown, and a short row of round diamonds runs along the bridge, 1/4 ct in total.

Product type
Bypass hidden halo engagement ring
Metal
Solid 14K white gold
Center stone
Lab grown diamond in radiant, pear, or oval cut, IGI certified, specified per order
Accent diamonds
Round melee, 1/4 ct total weight
Band width
2 mm
Setting
Double claw prong center, hidden halo, U cut pave bridge
Customization
Center stone shape and carat, gold karat, gold color, and ring size

The center diamond is specified per order in a radiant, pear, or oval cut, so the same setting reads as a wide geometric stone or a soft elongated one without any change to the band. Among our engagement rings, this is the design for a buyer who wants halo brilliance at the base of the stone without a visible halo outline from above.

Design Details

How Does the Bypass Band Change the Way the Ring Sits?

A bypass shank does not meet head on beneath the center stone. The two ends of the band pass each other and rise into the setting from opposite sides, which lets the stone sit low without a bulky under gallery. At 2 mm the band stays slim against the finger, and the sweep gives the center stone the impression of resting on the hand rather than being lifted above it.

The center stone is held by double claw prongs, paired tips that grip from the corners or the point rather than four single claws. On a pear cut the tip prong carries the most risk, and doubling it spreads pressure across the most fragile part of the stone. Outer surfaces are polished to a high shine, and the inner wall is left smooth and slightly rounded so the band clears the knuckle.

Materials & Craft

What Metal and Diamonds Are Used?

The band, bridge, and prongs are cut from the same solid 14K white gold alloy, so the color stays even across every surface. 14K is the harder of the two common karats, which suits a 2 mm band that has to hold a bypass curve without flexing over years of daily wear. 18K is available on request, as are yellow and rose gold.

The center stone is a lab grown diamond, cut to order as a radiant, pear, or oval, and it ships with its own IGI report. The accent diamonds are melee: 1/4 ct spread across the hidden halo and the bridge row. Stones at that size are set as accents rather than graded individually, so no per stone report is issued for them. A test certificate covering the 14K gold and the diamonds is available on request.

  • The hidden halo seat is cut by hand into the basket so the melee ring sits flush against the underside of the center stone rather than proud of it
  • Each bridge stone sits in its own U shaped cutout, which opens the metal beneath the girdle and lets light back into the accent row
  • The two ends of the bypass shank are matched for height and sweep before the head is attached, so the center stone does not read as tilted from the side
  • Prong tips are re-tightened and the full basket is inspected under magnification after final polish
