The proportions are deliberate. At this size the cross reads as fine jewelry rather than as a statement pendant, which is what makes it wearable every day and easy to leave on. Within our diamond necklaces collection, this is the petite prong set cross, built for daily wear and for layering under a longer chain rather than for a single occasion.

Design Details

How Are the 12 Diamonds Arranged Across the Cross?

The stones run in a single line down each arm: eight along the vertical bar and five across the horizontal bar, sharing the diamond at the intersection, which totals 12. A single row is the reason the arms stay narrow. A double row would force the arms wider and turn a quiet pendant into a bulky one at the same carat weight.

Each stone is held by small prongs rather than a channel, so gold shows only as thin beads between the diamonds and the line of stones reads as continuous from a normal viewing distance. The 1.15 mm cable chain is intentionally fine so it carries the pendant without visually competing with it, and at 18 inches the cross sits at or just below the collarbone on most wearers, which is the length that layers cleanly under a 20 inch or longer chain.

Materials & Craft

What Metal and Diamonds Does This Cross Use?

The cross, bail, and chain are produced in solid 18K white gold (Au750), not plated and not filled, and the white gold is rhodium plated at our manufacturing facility for the bright neutral finish shown. The 12 stones are lab grown diamonds, chemically and optically identical to mined diamonds, supplied with a diamond test certificate. At 1/5 ct spread across 12 stones, the individual diamonds are small, so they are matched as one set for color and clarity before any of them is seated. A single off-color stone is far more visible in a line of twelve than in a solitaire.

  • Each of the 12 seats is cut individually so the stones sit level along arms narrow enough to hold only one row
  • The diamond at the intersection is seated first and used as the height reference for both rows, so the vertical and horizontal lines finish on the same plane
  • Prongs are filed low and rounded so a pendant worn daily does not catch on knitwear or shirt collars
  • Stone level, prong tightness, and bail alignment are checked under magnification before the chain is attached

What Can Be Changed Before Production Starts?

This cross necklace is built to order. The configuration shown is a starting point, not a fixed SKU. The following options can be specified before production starts.

  • Chain length: 18 inch as shown, with 16 inch or 20 inch available
  • Gold karat: 14K or 18K, with 18K offering a denser, richer color
  • Gold color: white as shown, or yellow or rose
  • Cross scale: the 15.4 mm x 10.10 mm proportion as shown, or scaled up for a longer line at the neck
  • Total carat weight: 1/5 ct as shown, or heavier stones for more visible sparkle at the same 12 stone layout
  • Stone type: lab grown diamond as standard, with natural diamond available on request
